About the neurology practice

The neurology practice is involved in the diagnosis and management of general adult neurology. We are committed to providing our patients and referring doctors with highest standards of excellence in neurological diagnosis and care. We provide neurological services, including neurodiagnostic techniques such as electroencephalogram (EEG), nerve conduction studies - electromography (EMG), and cognitive assessments.

Dr Panegyres' special interests are in neurodegenerative disorders and behavioural neurology, which is the study of behavioural manifestations of neurological processes. The study of behavioural neurology includes the dementias like Alzheimer's disease and frontotemporal dementia. He is especially interested in the dementias in young adults. He is also interested in the application of new diagnostic techniques and genetic information to the diagnosis and management of patients with neurodegenerative disorders.

Dr Panegyres also provides services for a public clinic at the Neurosciences Unit (Department of Health, Western Australia) which is the State referral centre at Mt Claremont for diagnostic and predictive gene testing in neurodegenerative disorders, and the diagnosis and management of young onset dementia. He collaborates with a multidisciplinary team including neuropsychologists, social workers and speech therapist in the management of neurodegenerative disorders.

Dr Panegyres is committed to development of rural neurology and he has been appointed by the Department of Health as neurologist to the Geraldton and Mid-West region of Western Australia. If you are from this area and you require information, please contact us.

Apart from clinical services, Dr Panegyres is the founder of an independent research organisation known as Neurodegenerative Disorders Research Pty Ltd, which is involved in the diagnosis and management of neurodegenerative disorders.
